What ever happened to the American Dream?

The art of writing is one accommodating means of expressing yourself, sharing with others and making your voice heard. Two benefits spring to mind when I think of writing. a) You are clarifying your thoughts on any number of matters that concern you and b) Your written voice will connect with others of opposing points of view so that you may learn from them. The act of randomly writing down your thoughts over time will give rise to what is important, relevant and emotionally cleansing. Diaries are personal, scrapbooks are family orientated and today’s technology gives rise to public forums that allow us to share from the very moment we wake to the last twitch of our fingers via a tweet. Over a few months, you will be surprised what materializes. Now you have the opportunity to work with an editor to pull it all together and have that book that has been bouncing around in your head, now published. Whoa, you are an author…who knew!

113 Reasons to Read these Quotes
‘A Fearless Guide to Making Better Decisions’

and read sample pages and quotes for 133 reasons
[wp_cart:13-Reasons:price:10:end]

113 Reasons to Read these Quotes has come about simply because of the response to my first Quote book ‘Life Cycles’ 113 Quotes to Guide Your Daily Decisions. People simply wanted to know my perspective because I asked them theirs. This Quote book contains the same quotes along with my interpretation of each quote. As in the previous book you will have space to add your thoughts, as the exercise is for you to identify with a quotes, no matter what state you are in, and consider it’s relevance to the situation you face. Hence, your own thoughts and ability to evaluate your needs carries the weight. As you perform this exercise, of the mind more often, you will begin to develop confidence in your ability to call upon those that have gone before you, give consideration of your perspective and evaluate the outcome without blame or guilt or condemnation. The outcome is the outcome and we all learn from the experience. Painful or pleasurable, it is the ability to learn from other people’s experiences, (or more painfully our own) that opens the doors of possibilities and desire to move on.

These quotes are taken from people of different times, cultures, and nationalities with the same common denominators faced by all…how to address a situation you find yourself in that requires you to think and act differently in order to get the results you want? Read through and find the one(s) that bring you inspiration. The one(s) that give you a new perspective you did not think of. The one(s) that provide a way to deal with your challenge. Value the experience of others.

[wp_cart:13-Reasons:price:10:end]

Life Cycles, 113 Quotes to Guide Your Daily Decisions, is a resource of quotes that bring your attention to how others have thought of challenges in their lives. How they have faced difficulties.

New perspectives from the experiences of others. Remember, we don’t have enough time on earth to learn all that we need to know, and we can surely accelerate our learning by drawing on the experiences of those who have gone before us. Take heart when all else seems to fail you, and reach back to your ancestors, your mentors, family, and friends who have forged ahead in the face of adversity, from which they came to realize their goals, dreams, and aspirations.

“It is tragic that we have not learned how to learn without being taught, and it is probable more important than all of the immediate reasons put together. It is the ability to carry out individual learning long after the stimulation of some activity like a class or workshop (self-improvement module) is completed that we believe results from individualizing and instructional process.
Malcolm Shepherd Knowles,
Adult Educator 1913 – 1997

Managing Life’s Changes in 60 Seconds with Ronald M Allen

The State of your mind is measured by how curious you are about life. Did you read Alice in Wonderland? Writers of prose, satire, fact and fiction tell of the state of our culture. Throughout time, citizens from every nation were limited in what they could say and write about the social, economic and human conditions they lived in. Today the majority of citizens still do not get it. Learning information, acquiring knowledge and applying it to one’s life is to push the frontier of our thinking and actions beyond the old barriers to new boundaries. I quote W. H. Auden 1907 – 1973 “We would rather be ruined than changed. We would rather die in our dread than climb the cross of the moment and let our illusions die”. The illusion of progress is tested by the liberty the citizen takes in the street. So what mental dragons have you to slay? What apathy of the mind have you come to terms with? How lethargic has your world become because you have forgotten to be curious. How numb are you?

In the summer of 1967 Paul Anka first heard a pop song entitled ‘I did it my way’ while in Paris, France. Not to be confused with Paris, Texas.  Even though he did not like the song, he ended up writing the song for Frank Sinatra and the rest was history, or would it have been? It was Anka’ relationship with Frank Sinatra that provided the venue to see Sinatra’s life that gave rise to the ‘attitude’ that created this musical generous.  By hanging out with mob guys and their level of conversation, Sinatra’s comments about leaving the music business, and the decade of ME! a well-established part of the social culture while slang of the day in conversation amongst the tribes, all gave way to the feel of the song and so, ‘I did it my way’, was conceived. By admitting to your dilemma and acknowledging that you want to move in a different direction, you open the door to possibilities that allow you to recreate yourself and not remain stagnant in life’s comatose state. Thanks Paul Anka.

When was the last time you had a good hearty laugh that made your sides hurt your head dizzy and left you crying from a delirious state of hysteria?  The psychology of laughter is one that cleanses the mind, body and one’s spirit of all manner of toxic waste. Your ability to recognize when you need to release is crucial to a healthy outlook on life. We all experience hedonic happiness multiple times every day it is the happiness that comes to us from things outside of our self.  This kind of happiness feels great but never lasts as long as we want it to. Eudaimonic happiness is internally generated and is independent of external events.  Once we learn how to harness it, it will not leave. Eudaimonic expresses itself as a deep, enduring, inner peace and contentment. Therefore, the next time you feeling tied, when your mind cannot focus and you feel beaten down find a comical lyric and have a good laugh. It just might save your sanity..

13 Steps to Positive Change,

There is No Fourteenth Floor

and read sample pages and quotes for 13 steps
[wp_cart:13-Reasons:price:10:end]

Every one can tell a story of the many events, happenings and situations we go through in life. It is the ability to recognize the value of these experiences, the very art and science of managing our reality that brings the unique texture of life to each story told.

This book represents a short summary of 13 stories taken from my life and how I have interpreted them and if you will, translated these experiences in a positive way to grow and develop. It is a choice and as my father told me, “be patient there will be plenty of time to make decisions”. I have taken the number 13 as a point of distraction as many people associate an uncomfortable feeling when this number is brought up in conversation. At the same time it is precisely this number that has forged the original number of states in the creation of the Union; now know as the United States. One can elaborate about such associations and interpretations. These interpretations simply emphasize the importance of the meanings we subscribe to all manner of things around us. How you choose to interpret your life’s experiences will determine your life’s view. Just because a cannibal has human on the menu, does not make them any more or less a favor to the Gods…I’ll leave that up to your own interpretation.

Look back on your life’s experiences and project forward how you want your life to read out and more importantly how you want those around you that are left to interpret your life, your legacy
